Hon. Rachel Adams ’77 and Hon. Bernard Graham ’85 were honored at the Brooklyn Bar Association Foundation annual dinner at the Marriott Hotel on December 18. Aimee Richter ’93, president of the Brooklyn Bar Association, also presented the new Vivian H. Agress Trailblazer Award, named for the Brooklyn Bar Association’s first female president. Andrea E. Bonina ’92, Rose Ann C. Branda ‘84, Hon. Miriam Cyrulnik ‘80, and Rebecca Rose Woodland ’92 were among the honorees.

“The judiciary in Brooklyn is a fantastic group of men and women,” said Richter said. “Tonight, we are honoring two of its best.”

Hon. Sylvia Hinds-Radix introduced Adams and described their work together at DC37 Municipal Employees Legal Services, as well as Adams’ role in creating the court’s Good and Welfare Committee.

“I’m so very proud to receive this award with Justice Graham and the wonderful women who won the Trailblazer Award,” Adams said.

Graham was praised for his work presiding over New York’s first same-sex marriage in 2011 by Justice Lawrence Knipel, Kings County Supreme Court, Civil Division.
