Horace Ng ’93 was named a 2014 Corporate Counsel Award finalist this week, as selected by the San Francisco Business Times. Ng, who placed in the Best IP Lawyer category, is Managing IP Counsel and Director of IP Development at Marvell Semiconductor Inc., a worldwide firm.
When Ng assumed his post in 2006, Marvell had approximately 200 U.S. patents and an IP legal team of two people. Today, with design centers around the world, the company has more than 4,000 U.S. patents (as well as protections in Asia and Europe) and a 10-member legal team handling intellectual property. “Being a lawyer gave [Ng] a way to help people through the complexities of technology law,” the article notes.
