Brooklyn Law School is pleased to announce that its Media Law Moot Court Team has won the Americas Regional Round of the Price Media Law Moot Court Competition. Team members Setenay Akdag ’14, Brittany McGrath ’14, Sarah Murphy ’14, Raj Singh ’14 and coach Julie Geng ’13 will travel to Oxford University in April to compete in the International Rounds of the competition.
During the Americas Regional Round of the competition, held January 24 through 27 at the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, the team performed extremely well. In the final round, they faced off against Regent University Law School before a distinguished panel of judges that included Judge Pierre N. Leval and Judge Robert D. Sack of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
The team also won the award for fourth best brief, while McGrath won the "Best Overall Oralist" award and the "Best Oralist in Final Round" award, and received a special award for receiving a perfect score from a judge in the competition.
“We are absolutely thrilled about this victory and so proud of the whole team,” said Caroline McKenna ’13, President of the Moot Court Honor Society. “This was the first competition of the semester, and they really started us off on the right foot for the busy spring season.”
