Welcome to Our Office of Career and Professional Development

Your Blueprint For Success

The experienced staff in the Office of Career and Professional Development includes a dean, four counselors, a director of employer relations, a professional development manager, an administrative manager and three dedicated career assistants, all of whom bring multifaceted experience in legal recruiting and professional development to the office. Through early outreach, an individualized approach to counseling, and comprehensive career development programs, the office is committed to providing student and alumni candidates with the building blocks necessary for a rewarding legal career. The Office of Career and Professional Development helps students and graduates explore the wide variety of practice areas and emerging fields of law and to determine individual skills and interests. Students are guided along their career paths from the first semester, through graduation, and beyond. We assist in developing the tools necessary to conduct a successful job search and in preparing the materials you need to establish yourself as a marketable, successful candidate for a multitude of positions. Through this rigorous approach to career development, graduates continue to find employment with a wide range of employers in the public and private sector.

The OCPD draws on many resources, including the law school’s extraordinary community of alumni, our invaluable clinical programs, and our supportive faculty, to organize both large and intimate programs, workshops and events on established and developing practice areas, as well as job search skills. We also partner with student organizations to develop programming tailored to the interests of our student body.

With an open-door policy and easy access to help when you need it, our aim is to prepare you fully for the real world of legal practice that lies ahead.
