Professor Urs joined the faculty in 2011 from the Brooklyn Family Defense Project in New York City, where she was a staff attorney for the past two years. In this capacity she represented indigent clients and parents accused of child abuse and/or neglect. She previously served as law clerk to Judge Deborah A. Batts of the Southern District of New York. Following law school she was a Resident Fellow for the Open Society Justice Initiative in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where she conducted field research during the Khmer Rouge Tribunal. She is conversational in Khmer, and has published articles on Cambodian international human rights issues.
