On March 11, at the Forchelli Conference Center at Feil Hall, three hundred impassioned students, alumni, professors, and friends of BLS gathered together for the 20th Annual Brooklyn Law Students for the Public Interest (BLSPI) auction. By the evening’s high stakes conclusion, they had raised a record $47,000 to support students interested in dedicating their law degrees to public interest work.
“Brooklyn Law School students sure know how to have a good time, but they party hardest when it’s for a good cause,” wrote the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of the auction.
As was the case last year, the biggest ticket item of the night was a dinner with “Los Tres Geraldos,” the three rather famous BLS “Gerald” alumni: famed journalist Geraldo Rivera ’69, criminal defense attorney Gerald Lefcourt ’67, and Professor Gerald Shargel ’69, a noted criminal defense attorney who is a BLS Practitioner-in-Residence.
