Program Description:
It has almost become trite to point out that the world is connected like never before but this does not negate the truth of the statement. You use your smart phone to start your smart dishwasher and pay your bills online. As you walk to your business (a small clothing boutique in the mall, next to the Amazon book store) the ads change just for you and inform you about the next summer blockbuster. Your online business is booming and you just shipped some goods to a customer in France.
At every step of your journey, privacy issues are implicated. This panel will bring together privacy professionals from a diverse cross-section of industries to explore and discuss how to navigate privacy in an interconnected world, including the considerations faced by online companies versus brick-and-mortar; how new technology is changing the ways people think about privacy; and best practices for collecting and securing personal data, particularly with the impending GDPR regulation coming of the European Union.
1 hour of CLE credit will be offered for CA.
Panelists:
Kristine Holm, BLS Class of 2012, Privacy Counsel, 21st Century Fox
Leanne Mouw, Vice President, Senior Corporate and IP Counsel, Macerich
