Visiting Assistant Professor of Legal Writing

Biography

Professor Ryan Gerber joined Brooklyn Law School as a Visiting Professor of Legal Writing in 2025. Professor Gerber’s research examines the role that courts, legislatures, and agencies play in responding to commercial products that create risks of serious societal harm. His recent work focuses on the growing field of firearms law and unpacks firearms industry regulation. Professor Gerber’s scholarship has appeared or is forthcoming in the William & Mary Law Review, the Cardozo Law Review, and the Federal Sentencing Reporter.

Prior to joining the Law School, Professor Gerber practiced as an impact litigator at both Everytown Law and the Policing Project at NYU School of Law, where he brought and defended cases in federal and state courts throughout the country. He also taught legal writing as an adjunct at Fordham Law School. He began his career by working at Jenner & Block’s New York Office.

Professor Gerber clerked for the Hon. Jack B. Weinstein, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of New York and received his law degree from NYU School of Law.
