Dong Joo Lee ’13 and Professor Dale Ho Named to Best Lawyers Under 40 List by NAPABA

The National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) presented Dong Joo Lee ’13 and Adjunct Professor Dale Ho with 2017 Best Lawyers Under 40 Awards. The award recognizes talented individuals in the Asian Pacific American legal community who have achieved prominence in their fields and have given back significantly to the Asian Pacific American community.

Ho, who teaches courses on Election Law and the Law of Democracy, is the director of the Voting Rights Project at the American Civil Liberties Union, where he supervises voting rights litigation and advocacy work. He has active cases in more than a dozen states, and has litigated under the federal Voting Rights Act and the National Voter Registration Act. He defended the constitutionality of Sections 4(b) and 5 of the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder and challenged cuts to early voting and same-day registration in North Carolina in League of Women Voters of NC v. North Carolina. He makes frequent media appearances to discuss voting rights and has been published in Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review, the Florida Law Review, and the University of Richmond Law Review.

Lee is a Navy Lieutenant and serves in the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He was recently featured in Brooklyn Law Notes after a surprise meeting with his fellow Class of 2013 member Gabe Park, a captain in the Air Force. The two reconnected in June when they were both attending trainings at the Naval Station in Newport, RI. They both joined the Judge Advocate General’s Corps immediately after graduating from the Law School. As a student, Lee served as president of Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and vice president of the Student Bar Association, and he was a member of the Moot Court Trial Division.

NAPABA represents nearly 50,000 attorneys and about 75 national, state, and local Asian Pacific American bar associations.
