Charles Cohen '77 Scores with Oscar-winning Foreign Film

02/28/2017

Charles Cohen ’77 attended his sixth Oscars Sunday night and went home a winner thanks to Cohen Media Group’s distribution of The Salesman, which won best foreign-language film. The film’s director, Asghar Farhadi, boycotted the awards ceremony in solidarity with Iranian immigrants affected by the president’s recent immigration executive orders. But Cohen was there and told Forbes: “It’s a great feeling of bringing an important film to American audiences from an accomplished and masterful director.”

Cohen Media Group, of which Cohen is chairman, was also the U.S. distributor of Mustang, Timbuktu, and Outside the Law, foreign films that received Oscar nominations in 2016, 2015, and 2010, respectively.
