Paula N. Ramos Appointed Brooklyn Law’s New Dean of Students
Brooklyn Law School welcomes Paula N. Ramos as its new Dean of Students, effective April 13, 2026. Ramos brings a rare combination of high-level legal experience and a deeply personal commitment to supporting students through the challenges and opportunities of law school.
Ramos joins the Law School from Emory University School of Law, where she served as Director of Student Engagement and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. There, she developed programs in leadership, wellness, and academic readiness, while working closely with students navigating personal and professional challenges. Her work emphasized building community and fostering a respectful, supportive learning environment.
"Being Dean of Students is about showing up for students on both their best days and their most challenging ones," said Sarah Jean Kelly, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Student Affairs Officer. "Paula brings not only extraordinary experience, but also a genuine care for students that will be felt across our community."
Before entering higher education, Ramos spent more than 20 years at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where she worked on complex mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters. Her legal career informs her approach to student development, helping students navigate the professional expectations of the legal field while supporting their individual goals and well-being.
A graduate of Smith College and Howard University School of Law, Ramos clerked for the Honorable Emmet G. Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the Honorable Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr., of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
"I'm honored to join Brooklyn Law School and to work alongside students during such an important and formative time in their lives," said Ramos. "I'm excited to get to know the community—listening closely, building relationships, and ensuring every student has both the support and the structure to navigate law school and to develop into the lawyers they are capable of becoming."
As Dean of Students, Ramos will work closely with Sarah Kelly and the Student Affairs team to support student well-being, foster community, and enhance the overall student experience.
The Law School is thrilled to welcome Ramos to campus and to celebrate her first day with the community.
