CUBE Hosts Panel on “Navigating the Black Box of New York Government”

The Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship (CUBE) will host a panel of experts from venture capital, government affairs, politics, and law to discuss how to navigate New York City and State’s notoriously complex regulatory landscape. The event will take place at Brooklyn Law School on Sept. 29.
Panelists include Bradley Tusk, CEO and cofounder of Tusk Venture Partners; James Ansorge, senior principal of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies; and Adjunct Professor David Yassky, formerly a New York City Council member, chair of the New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission and dean of Pace University School of Law. The discussion, which will focus on present and future challenges and opportunities that businesses face, will be moderated by Professor Jonathan Askin, the faculty chair and innovation catalyst for CUBE.
“The goal is to bring together professionals with experience in various regulatory fields to discuss how they’ve navigated those obstacles,” Askin said. “It is also an appropriate time to consider how the current federal administration, and future city and state administrations, may impact regulations.”
A recent analysis from the Public Policy Institute of New York highlights the state’s unusually high volume of regulations compared with other states but also underscores New York’s strength as a place “where new ideas and capital have come together to drive innovation.”
This semester, CUBE is partnering with companies eager innovate and revitalize New York's manufacturing sector, particularly in Brooklyn and in areas such as the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Brooklyn Army Terminal, and the Sunset Park neighborhood, Askin noted.
The event will be held on Monday, Sept. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Subotnick Center at Brooklyn Law School. Admission is free for all Brooklyn Law School ID holders; others may register here.
