The Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellowship Informational Programs

Info Sessions: 

12:00 to 1:45 P.M. & 5:00 to 6:00 P.M.

The Sparer Fellowship Program supports Brooklyn Law School students to pursue public interest law in service of social justice and the greater good. Core components of the program include a stipend for a summer internship with a public interest organization in the U.S. or abroad, monthly luncheons focused on current public interest issues, and the opportunity to plan and engage in academic events. Stipends will be available for the summer of 2025. 

At these Informational Programs, Summer 2025 Sparer Fellows will discuss their summer experiences in placements with organizations such as:  


•    Brooklyn Defender Services, Civil Justice 
•    Brooklyn Legal Services Corp. A 
•    Center for Agriculture & Food Systems 
•    City Bar Justice Center, Federal Pro Se Legal Assistance Project 
•    Death Penalty Information Center 
•    Exoneration Project 
•    Federal Defenders of NY
•    Housing Conservation Coordinators 
•    The Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Practice and Juvenile Rights Practice 
•    Make the Road NY 
•    Manhattan Legal Services, Disability Advocacy Unit 
•    Peer Defense Project 
•    Queens Legal Services 
•    Staten Island Legal Services, Housing 
 
Professor Vijay Raghavan and Amy Hsieh, co-directors of the Sparer program will discuss the application procedures and selection process. They will also be available to answer questions after each session.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE SPARER FELLOWSHIP FOR SUMMER 2026 ARE DUE BY THURSDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2025.   

ALL STUDENTS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN PUBLIC INTEREST LAW ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND; STUDENTS WHO ARE APPLYING TO THE PROGRAM SHOULD PLAN TO ATTEND.
