Selected Problems in Constitutional Jurisprudence Seminar

This course addresses different contemporary problems in constitutional jurisprudence each week; such as hate speech, privacy, limitations on congressional exercise of the Commerce Clause, substantive due process, qualified immunity, actual innocence in the face of lawful conviction, and whatever additional constitutional issues become topical during the term. The class will read and analyze two to three published Supreme Court opinions per week and engage in lively debate over them. Grading and Method of Evaluation: Letter grade only. Grades will be based on oral presentation, classroom participation, and a research paper. Attendance and participation at all classes are vital to the successful completion of this course.
