Pre-Bar Review II - Intenvise
This course surveys core U.S. legal doctrine in a number of areas including civil procedure, criminal law, torts, wills, constitutional law, contracts, property, and evidence. Core subjects will be reviewed and analyzed and then serve as the foundation for practical application on the Uniform Bar Examination. Grading and Method of Evaluation: Letter grade only. Please note that significant diagnostic work, including a pre-class timed diagnostic as well as separate timed diagnostics and individual student-professor working conferences outside of the regular class meeting, are needed to ensure the ABA-required credit hours for a 2-credit class's completion on this accelerated schedule. Specifically, students will be required to complete the following outside of the 6 Friday class meetings: (1) Before semester: Watch a video lecture introducing the performance test, as well as complete both a diagnostic performance test and an early bar planning questionnaire. (2 1/2 hours) (2) During semester: (a) Complete a separate 3-hour, back-to-back timed performance test block. (If the bar again requires a remotely proctored exam in 2021, we will use this as an opportunity to practice in that recorded environment.) (3 hours) (b) Watch "A Lawyer Walks Into a Bar" and write a reflection paper on it or record a Flipgrid video responding to it. (2 hours) (Past students recommend seeing this later in the semester, rather than earlier, after we've talked significantly in class about the challenges of bar prep.) (c.) Complete a 100 Question Multiple Choice Diagnostic. (3) Attend two one-hour group conferences outside of regularly scheduled class with small-group leaders. (4) Towards the end of the class: Schedule a bar planning conference with Professor Midwood, to go over bar exam planning. (1/2 hour)
