Lawyering in A.I. Age
This seminar introduces students to the transformative impact of generative artificial intelligence (GAI) on legal practice. Students will examine how large language models and other GAI tools are reshaping traditional aspects of lawyering while experimenting with their practical applications in legal problem solving and communication. Through readings, discussions, research, and presentations, participants will develop skills to leverage these technologies and maintain critical judgment about their capabilities and limitations. Students will analyze how these emerging technologies may redefine attorney competence, alter traditional practice models, and potentially expand access to justice. Throughout the seminar, students will navigate complex questions about the future of human expertise in legal services.
