Landlord-Tenant Litigation Seminar
This course will focus on the statutory and historical development of landlord-tenant case law and the application to landlord-tenant litigation. We will explore both the statutory underpinnings for rent regulation; the interpretation and application of critical lease provisions; and the framework for prosecuting and defending various types of eviction proceedings. It will also address recent changes in the law, and their impact on the practice of landlord-tenant litigation, such as the Stuyvestant-Town decision by the Court of Appeals and its implications. Lastly, Tenants will be exposed to practitioners and Judges who practice in this area to get their "real-world" perspective on the practice.
