Introduction to International Intellectual Property Law

This course will introduce students to the complex system of international law for the protection of copyright, patents, and trademarks. In addition to studying the basic treaties and agreements, we will look at the changes in intellectual property law that have occurred as the world economy grows and becomes a global marketplace. We will examine a illustrative comparative IP law issues. No prior coursework in intellectual property is necessary, but instructor will provide some recommended "pre-reading" for students who want to take the class and feel unfamiliar with the basics of intellectual property law. Grading:Pass/Fail only.
