Health Policy Research Seminar
The class will function as a consulting firm to an external client. Students will work in teams under the supervision of a faculty member. Each team will meet with the client and receive a substantive issue in law and policy to research and analyze. At the end of the semester the teams will produce a joint report and deliver an oral briefing of their findings to the client. This year's course will explore the issue of insured medical tourism. Members of the class will seek to better define the legal rights of individuals who seek insured medical care abroad. Specific attention will be paid to issues of tort liability and insurance reform. Grading and Method of Evaluation: Letter grade only. students will be graded on written work and classroom participation. The course cannot be used to satisfy the UCWR.
