Gender and the Law
This class was previously called Women and the Law. This course analyzes gender-based treatment in various areas of the law, including, but not limited to constitutional law, criminal law, employment law, family law and feminist legal theory. Reproductive justice, pregnancy discrimination, LGBTQ issues and gender expression and gender identity will also be covered. The format of the class will be discussion. Letter grade. Final exam. With prior permission of the instructor, students may write a paper instead of taking the exam. There will be an in-class presentation done in teams, bi-weekly issue papers based on the readings and reflection papers.
