Advanced Entertainment & Media Deals
This course covers the form and substance of deals/transactions that form the heart of the entertainment and media industries. While we often focus on the headline grabbing litigation that erupts occasionally in these industries, day in and day out it is the relationships among the players that actually define the industries and make them run. While many of these relationships can be informal, many or most are memorialized in some form. This course offers students the extensive experience and insights from multiple attorneys at one of the world's leading entertainment law firms as to how they facilitate and memorialize these relationships through informal and formal mechanisms. Different attorneys who specialize in different sub-fields of entertainment and media law-e.g., music, film-will be featured each week to discuss the nature of deals and transactions in that space. Students will draft five (5) short reports on topics of their choosing in lieu of a term paper or final exam.
