Matthew Funk ’98 Named President of New York State Trial Lawyers Association

Matthew Funk ’98 has been named the new president of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. He will take office on July 1. Funk is a workers’ compensation attorney—the first such attorney to be president of NYSTLA. He is a partner at Pasternack Tilker Ziegler Walsh Stanton & Romano, a New York-based accident and personal injury firm.

Funk told the New York Law Journal that his top priority as president of NYSTLA will be to urge the passage of Laverne’s Law, named for a woman who died in 2013 of lung cancer after a misdiagnosis, which would lengthen the statute of limitations on medical malpractice suits. Funk said he also hopes to focus on New York Labor Law statutes and consumers’ rights.
