About the Symposium
This symposium is a celebration of the life and scholarship of Aaron Twerski, the Irwin and Jill Cohen Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School. Professor Twerski began his teaching career at Duquesne University in 1967. In the more than 50 years since then, Twerski’s scholarship has helped shape the modern law of torts. His work, as the co-Reporter of the Restatement (Third) of Torts: Product Liability (American Law Institute, 1998) along with numerous articles and casebooks, has covered the entire landscape of tort law. His insights combine wisdom, pragmatism, and a practical sense of justice. He was designated the R. Ammi Cutter Reporter by the American Law Institute for his work on the Restatement. He was also awarded the Prosser Award by the Torts Section of the American Association of Law Schools for his outstanding contributions to the scholarship and teaching of torts and compensation systems. The symposium will consider the influence of Professor Twerski on the law of torts, with panels on duty, product liability, mass torts, immunity, and conflicts.

Only guests with proof of a primary COVID-19 vaccination series with an FDA-authorized or WHO-listed vaccine may visit the main Law School building (250 Joralemon St.) or our high-rise residential building, Feil Hall (205 State St.). One-time visitors and guests who wish to attend in-person events are also required to provide the security guard on duty at the Law School with proof of vaccination and current identification (including your name, photo, and date of birth).
