Service Day

Every year, the Public Service Law Center invites students to Brooklyn Law’s Annual Service Day where students can sign up for a day of volunteer work and give back to the Brooklyn community. Get to know your classmates, faculty, and administrators while working for a great cause.

Please meet in the Student Lounge at 9 a.m. Volunteers will head to their sites around 9:30. The volunteer work will last from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then groups will then return to BLS to enjoy a pizza lunch back in the Student Lounge.

Prospect Park Alliance: Help keep Prospect Park’s 500+ acres of gardens and natural areas beautiful! Volunteers will assist with trail maintenance, mulching, path edging, raking, sweeping, painting benches and fences, and/or litter removal.

CAMBA Beyond Hunger Emergency Food Pantry: Work at CAMBA's client-choice/supermarket-style emergency food pantry, where clients choose a three-day supply of nutritional food. Since 2013, CAMBA has operated a hydroponic farm, which provides clients with fresh vegetables grown inside the pantry. Volunteers will restock shelves, bag groceries, and work on the pantry’s farm.

CAMBA Flagstone Family Center
: Come and support the 158-bed homeless shelter in Brownsville, Brooklyn. You’ll be able to assist the Center with one of their ongoing projects, making it a more comfortable and well-organized space for families in need.

Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger: Work at the largest food pantry in Brooklyn, which provides the basic staples of a well-balanced diet to more than 30,000 low-income individuals each month. Volunteers will either work in the garden and harvest produce or be assigned a pantry role, which would involve helping visitors shop for a well-rounded meal, assisting with intake or working in the storage area bringing food items to the front and cleaning up.
