About the Panel Discussion
New technologies, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), are beginning to provide more accurate methods of measuring experience and, in turn, are leading to a new vision of how law, medicine and ethics should confront the realities of consciousness, pain, suffering and disorders of the brain. This program will explore the implications of advances in neuroscience and suggest ways in which the law should more appropriately advance the rights of individuals and the responsibilities of society.
