Trial Advocacy

Students study the basic components of trials and learn fundamental advocacy skills while performing certain aspects of the trial of a simulated case in class. All students conduct direct and cross-examination, deliver a summation and/or opening statement, and introduce and use items of demonstrative and physical evidence. Faculty members who are often judges and experienced trial lawyers provide personal feedback. The semester concludes with a full trial in which every student participates.

Grading and Method of Evaluation:
Letter grade with pass/fail option. Students graded on in-class simulations and mock trial.
