Patent Law

This course serves as an introduction to patent law. We will cover the conditions for obtaining a valid patent, the means of enforcing patents, and the defenses available to accused infringers, as well as various issues of current patent policy. This is an exciting and fast-changing area of law that now has relevance to lawyers in many forms of practice. Accordingly, the course is intended to be accessible to non-specialists as well as foundational for those who are interested in pursuing the subject further. No scientific or technical training is required to succeed in the class.

Grading and Method of Evaluation:
Letter grade with pass/fail option. Final exam.
