Comparative Contract Law Seminar

This seminar will explore the theoretical foundations of contract law by drawing on the resources of different legal systems. The primary sources of study will be the common law tradition represented by the U.K. and the U.S. and the civil law tradition represented by Germany and France. Topics will include contract formation, formal and substantive requirements for contract enforcement, and remedies. The seminar also will include a brief examination of the emerging impact of international organizations on contract law.

Grading and Method of Evaluation:
Letter grade with pass/fail option. Grades will be based on class participation and a series of short reaction papers.
