Comparative Constitutional Law

The major focus of this course is comparing the constitutional rights of states around the world. In addition, this course will focus on constitutional foundations, structures, and concepts. This course will explore how different systems deal with similar issues, how constitutions are grounded in cultures and values of a particular people, and issues surrounding constitutional legitimacy. Finally, the course will focus on the process by which constitutional law is becoming internationalized, looking at how courts use both international and comparative law in their decisions as part of compliance with states' obligations under international law.
