Gain a truly global perspective

Earn both your J.D. and LL.M. faster with our comprehensive programs.

As a Brooklyn Law School student, you have the option of earning a J.D. and LL.M. at one of our many international partner universities. The international dual degree programs build personal credentials and valuable contacts. The goal is to offer increased opportunities for students interested in international law – so that you have both the technical knowledge and the cross-cultural perspective to handle cross-border transactions or clients from foreign countries.

J.D./LL.M Partner Schools

Earn both a J.D. and LL.M. in three years with one of our seven partner schools (not open to accelerated J.D. or part-time students):

Bucerius Law School
Universidad Pontificia Comillas
Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3
University College Cork
University of Amsterdam
Ulster University

This enables a limited number of BLS students to live abroad for two semesters (Fall and Spring consecutively) during your second or third year*, earning an LL.M. and up to 28 credits toward your J.D. All courses are in English and focus on international law.

Tuition
You pay normal tuition and fees to BLS for one semester, and a $250 per credit transfer fee for each credit transferred back to BLS during the second semester. There is no other BLS tuition obligation in the second semester. Depending on the program, you may also be responsible for tuition at the foreign university. Each program has a different foreign tuition obligation. BLS scholarship only applies to tuition paid to BLS.

*Restrictions on the ability to participate in certain programs during your final year of study may apply as the timing may interfere with our ability to certify you for graduation and the NYS bar exam.

Application Process

After you are enrolled as a Brooklyn Law School student, you will apply for this program and must be accepted internally first. We will then recommend you to our foreign partner school where you must complete our partner school's application process. Our partner schools make all final decisions regarding acceptance and we cannot guarantee you will be accepted, though we will only nominate applicants we believe are qualified.
