Meet Our Professors
Professor Heidi Brown is the Director of the Legal Writing Program and the author of The Introverted Lawyer. Inspired by her own experience conquering the fear of public speaking during her litigation career, she is passionate about helping law students and lawyers “find their authentic lawyer voices” and overcome anxiety about Socratic legal discourse. Professor Susan Hazeldean is the founder and director of the LGBT Advocacy Clinic at Brooklyn Law. She is an expert on legal issues related to gender, sexual orientation, immigration, and civil rights. Her most recent work focuses on family rights for DACA families. Professor Bill Araiza’s teaching and scholarly interests focus on administrative and constitutional law. He is widely published in these areas, having written casebooks on the First Amendment and Constitutional Law, as well as articles in the NYU Law Review, Constitutional Commentary, U.C. Davis Law Review and Boston University Law Review. Here he talks about his latest book, Animus, which grapples with the concept of “animus” – or “bad motivation” -- in equal protection law.

Dana Brakman Reiser
Professor Brakman Reiser, an expert on law and finance, teams up with Vice Dean Steven Dean, a renowned tax scholar, to explore how businesses can "do well and do good" in an ever-changing political and economic landscape.
With roughly 1,100 students, Brooklyn Law School continues to attract the best and brightest students from around the country and the world. Over half are women and approximately one-third are students of color. Passionate and driven, they support each other and the community. They make the most of their time in Brooklyn and enrich our campus in every way.

Through clinics and pro bono projects, our students have been able to get involved in the causes they care about like immigration and LGBTQ rights, supporting small businesses, and more. Every semester brings new chances to get involved.

Every year, our students are awarded prestigious fellowships where they gain invaluable experience working with seasoned judges and attorneys. 2018 placements have included The Legal Aid Society, American Express, and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as internships and externships with notable judges and top law firms.

During our 117 years, we have built an impressive alumni network, which continues to grow. They span generations and cover every area of the law.
