Dean Nick Allard was featured on the Al Jazeera show Empire to discuss how the deregulation of campaign financing has affected the political process. With Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United allowing limitless amounts of money to be contributed to candidates, super-rich donors are making the 2012 U.S. presidential election the most expensive in history.
Dean Allard, a former top lobbyist in Washington, D.C., criticized the free-spending. “There is way too much money in politics,” he said. “The real problem that rots the system is they have to spend so much time fundraising, they have little time left to do the serious business in our government and our nation.”
