Public Service Law Center Launch & Awards Ceremony
Tuesday, March 28
6 to 8 p.m.
Brooklyn Law School
Feil Hall, Forchelli Conference Center
205 State Street
The Public Service Law Center will be launched at the annual Public Service Awards Ceremony. The Public Service Law Center will be a hub of resources and information on the Law School’s many public service programs and initiatives.
The keynote speakers for the evening will be Dean Strang and Jerry Buting, the criminal defense attorneys who represented Steven Avery featured in the Netflix documentary “Making a Murderer.”
The Public Service Awards honor faculty, alumni, and graduating students who have performed extraordinary pro bono and public service work. In addition to celebrating the work of the many fantastic graduating students who have devoted hundreds of hours to public service, we will also honor civil rights and human rights attorney Esmeralda Simmons ’78, founder and executive director of the Center for Law and Social Justice at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York, and Stacy Caplow, Associate Dean of Professional Legal Education and Professor of Law, who is a leading expert in criminal law and immigration and co-director of the Law School's Safe Harbor Project.
The Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Forum will be held before the Public Service event. Learn more about the program.
