Professor David Reiss commented on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)’s approach to investigations of companies. Experts argue that its strategy is an attempt to show that the fledgling agency is willing to be aggressive and stand up to large corporations. Professor David Reiss told Law 360 that the approach reflects the background of CFPB Director Richard Cordray. “[Cordray is] probably very comfortable with a very assertive use of the subpoena power,” he explained.
