In order to alleviate a growing number of mediations, the New York Southern District Courts have enlisted students from Brooklyn Law School, as well as New York Law School and Seton Hall Law School, to represent about 20 employment discrimination plaintiffs in court-referred mediations. Professor Minna Kotkin will supervise the BLS students. Chief Judge Loretta Preska called the program "the biggest win-win-win I can think of." The New York Law Journal noted that the partnership will "benefit clients in need of representation, students seeking real world experience and the Southern District, which is looking to resolve discrimination matters outside of the courtroom."
