November 2009 – The current issue of a New York State Bar Association newsletter, Pro Bono News, features an article by John Buhta ’09 about the innovative pro bono project CLARO, the Civil Legal Advice and Resource Office, and SAG, the Student Action Group of CLARO that Buhta co-founded. CLARO is a walk-in clinic providing legal advice to pro se litigants sued in civil court by debt collectors and creditors. Developed in 2006 by the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project in conjunction with Brooklyn Law School, CLARO has become a technologically sophisticated program staffed by volunteer lawyers and law students that has been studied and replicated throughout the city.
