02.06.13 FCC Workshop on Network Resiliency: Live Webcast

    Wednesday, February 6
    10:00 - 4:30 pm

    Forchelli Center at Feil Hall
    205 State Street

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will host a workshop on network resiliency on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at the Forchelli Center. Coverage of the workshop will also be streamed live over the Internet. Topics to be covered will relate to the FCC’s ongoing examination of network resiliency in the wake of Superstorm Sandy and other major storms.

Presentations from engineering faculty, industry researchers and network engineers will address questions related to overall communications infrastructure, the impact of climate change on the frequency and severity of future storms, and on how to measure the effect of natural and man-made disasters on communications infrastructure in real time. Additional panels will address how to improve the resiliency of wired access networks and the Internet backbone, and focus on wireless networks, first responders and social networks in the event of failures of communication systems.

The workshop is open to the public but advance registration is encouraged as seating is limited.
