10.17.11 Philosophy & Linguistics Society: Ideas in the Law - Prof. Stephen Neale
    image of flyer

    Monday, October 17
    1:00 - 2:00 PM

    Student Lounge
    250 Joralemon Street

Prof. Neale's current research involves a philosophical analysis of the statutory interpretion theory known as "Textualism" or "Originalism." His result is a "highly qualified" defense of Scalia's approach to jurisprudence. The discussion of the Supreme Court Justice's favorite theory will involve application of concepts from philosophy of language. While these concepts may be lesser known to those practicing law, they may still prove useful as analytic tools. Please join us for what is sure to be a provocative and enlightening discussion.

Sponsored by the Philosophy & Linguistics Society.
