James I. Glasser, a partner in the New Haven and New York offices of Wiggin and Dana and chair of its Litigation Department, was awarded the Connecticut Law Tribune’s 2015 Professional Excellence Award. The award honors “attorneys with 30 or more years of experience who have made substantial contributions during their careers to law firms, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, corporations, law schools and the judiciary, and to the practice of law in general.” Glasser represents corporations and individuals in complex civil litigation and in investigations and prosecutions conducted by the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, the State Department, the Commerce Department, State Attorneys General, and other federal and state regulators. Jon R. Mostel, previously a partner in the New York office of Stroock, Stroock and Lavan in its energy and project finance group, joined the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) as its general counsel and secretary. LIPA is tasked with overseeing electrical service on Long Island, making sure PSEG-Long Island ensures “reliable, economical electric service to 1.1 million customers on Long Island and in the Rockaways.” Prior to practicing law, Mostel held a variety of engineering and management positions with the Brooklyn Union Gas Company where he began in 1970. Joanne S. Seminara, Of Counsel at Grimaldi & Yeung LLP, and Judith D. Grimaldi `93, a named partner of the firm, co-wrote, 5@55: The Five Essential Legal Documents You Need by Age 55, (Quill Driver Books 2015). Seminara practices in the areas of elder law, estate and trust planning, including estate tax and Medicaid planning, and special needs planning. Grimaldi, a Certified Elder Law Attorney, has special expertise on planning for the pre and post retirement years, with a particular focus is on family caregivers and homecare. She is also a member of the adjunct faculty at Brooklyn Law School where she teaches elder law. (7/15/2015)
