The summer program in Bologna, Italy is sponsored by Brooklyn Law School and hosted by the University of Bologna. The University of Bologna was founded in the 11th century and is the oldest university in Europe. It has been a renowned center for the study of law since the Middle Ages. The Program offers students an opportunity to study a variety of international and comparative topics with distinguished faculty from Brooklyn Law School and from the University of Bologna.

  • William Araiza is Co-Director of the summer program in Bologna and a member of the faculty at Brooklyn Law School..
  • Julian Arato is a member of the faculty at Brooklyn Law School. He will teach Secession in International Law: Catalonia, Kurdistan, and Scotland.

  • Chiara Giovannucci Orlandi is the Italian Co-Director of the Bologna summer program. She is adjunct professor of Alternative Dispute Resolution on the Faculty of Economics at the University of Bologna. She previously was a Professor of Civil Procedure and of National and International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution on the Faculty of Economics at the University of Bologna; Visiting Professor at Paris Ouest Nanterre la Defense; and Visiting Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She is an honors graduate of the University of Bologna Faculty of Law and she is admitted to the Bologna Bar. Professor Giovannucci Orlandi is a member of the Italian Chamber of Commerce Conciliation and Arbitration Committee. She has authored many articles in the field of arbitration in Italian and foreign law reviews. Professor Orlandi will teach International Commercial Arbitration.

  • Winnie Taylor is a member of the Brooklyn Law School faculty and she will serve as on-site Director of the summer program. Prof. Taylor will teach International and Domestic Sales Law.
