Consumer Protection Law
This course is designed to acquaint students with the law of consumer protection. More broadly, this class will provide students with an understanding of how statutes work and how to read them with care. The course covers the development of laws protecting consumers, and federal and state statutes protecting consumers, with an emphasis on the Federal Trade Commission Act and state law equivalents. The course also examines issues related to balancing the marketplace (the need for information, regulation of the bargain) and covers remedies available to the consumer, creditor, and state and federal government.Grading and Method of Evaluation
