Law, Politics and Personality Seminar
This seminar will attempt to provide concrete illustrations of Holmes' observation that the life of the law is not logic but experience. It will study important legal/political events in recent American history at the crossroads where law, politics and individual judgment meet. The course will study several well known events, like the Iran-Contra investigation, the savings and loan scandal, the dispute over an art exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, and many other controversial recent events, to examine how law alone may not resolve the issues.Grading and Method of Evaluation
