Realizing Your Goals
You will spend a good deal of energy during law school preparing for life beyond graduation. Our OCPD team is dedicated to helping you navigate a variety of choices so that you can meet your goals. Our job development effort is led by the OCPD Director and spearheaded by two Employer Relations Specialists whose single focus is to develop positions within the private and government sectors.
Employer Relations Specialist
Robin E. Nackman, Director of Employer Relations
Robin Nackman joined the OCPD in September 2014 as Director of Employer Relations following 4 years of outreach to the legal community at both Touro Law Center and New York Law School. Ms. Nackman received her BA from The Johns Hopkins University and her JD from University of Buffalo School of Law. She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office and continued her litigation practice as a Vice President and Associate General Counsel with the in-house legal department of Prudential Securities, Inc. Ms. Nackman then opened her own general litigation practice concentrating in securities arbitrations and mediations, real estate transactions, contract disputes, class action consumer fraud claims and wills and estate matters. She transitioned to Employer Relations in 2010 and has since dedicated her career to finding, generating and creating opportunities in addition to providing career counseling, mentoring, and professional development for students and graduates alike.
We have set up a counseling-based program dedicated to helping students interested in working in Washington D.C. for the summer and/or in post-graduate positions in the government and non-profit sectors.
Students interested in working in DC meet with the DC Connect advisor in order to formulate a detailed and personalized job search strategy. The DC program is set up to ensure that students are aware of relevant deadlines, and other special requirements including background checks, possible interview questions, and necessary language for targeted resumes and cover letters for various positions.
The DC Connect advisor also serves as a liaison between the students who have secured DC internships and permanent positions.
