Jennifer Assa-Kass was a speaker at the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM) 2016 Claims College School of Professional Lines, held in Baltimore in September. She is a senior claims specialist with Nationwide’s management liability and specialty claims where she handles employment practices liability claims for for-profit and nonprofit insureds. Frank Carone was elevated to name partner of Abrams Fensterman, which has changed its official name to Abrams, Fensterman, Fensterman, Eisman, Formato, Ferrara, Wolf & Carone, LLP. Carone has served as executive partner and head of the firm’s Brooklyn office since 2012. His practice includes complex civil and criminal matters for individuals, corporations, governmental agencies, nonprofit organizations, and professional practices. (8/4/2017)

Jeff Gewirtz and his wife, Brooke Raphael, welcomed the arrival of their son, Eton Sam Gewirtz, on November 20, 2016. Gewirtz is executive vice president of business affairs and chief legal officer of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, which oversees programming, marketing, sales, and operations for Barclays Center and Long Island’s new Coliseum, and manages and controls the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, as well as the business operations of the NHL’s New York Islanders. Deborah Epstein Henry, a recognized expert, consultant, and public speaker on women, careers, and the legal profession, was elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Forum of Executive Women, a membership organization of more than 450 influential women representing diverse businesses of the Greater Philadelphia region. Henry is the founder of Flex-Time Lawyers LLC and Bliss Lawyers. (9/6/2017)

Michael Levy joined the senior leadership team in the Dallas office of global investment firm Crow Holdings, where he will focus on business development, investment strategy, and broader initiatives. He was previously chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley Investment Management. (11/19/2016)

Carolyn Pokorny was appointed chief special counsel for ethics, risk and compliance by New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. She most recently served as deputy chief of staff and counselor to U.S. Attorney General Loretta E. Lynch and previously spent nearly 15 years with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn. (6/1/2017)

Chaim Steinberger was recently elected to the Council of the American Bar Association Family Law Section. He was also appointed to the executive committee of the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section. Steinberger is a divorce and family law lawyer. (11/19/2016)

Andrea Strong, who returned to the Law School part-time this fall as its development communications manager, continues to work as a freelance food writer. Her piece, “Why Serious Bakers Have Mother Issues,” was chosen to be included in the Best Food Writing of 2016 (9/9/2016).
