Forensic Science and the Law

This course examines the use of forensic science in criminal law. Each class will cover a different forensic science technique, including DNA, fingerprints, toolmarks, bite mark analysis, shaken baby syndrome, and other similar topics. Students will learn about the methods of the various techniques, and the legal and policy issues associated with this type of evidence.

Grading and Method of Evaluation:

Letter grade with pass/fail option. Students will be graded on participation, a written exercise, class simulation, and final paper that will incorporate the prior written exercise.
