Federal Civil Litigation - USAO EDNY Immigration Unit Credits: 3 Faculty: Joseph Marutollo Under the supervision of the Chief of Immigration Litigation for the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, students in this hybrid, the in-house clinic will defend the government's interests in federal immigration cases. Students will be expected to work, at a minimum, 12-15 hours a week at the EDNY. As part of the course, the students will perform a variety of duties in this Office, including, among other things, briefing motions, corresponding with the relevant agency attorneys, and engaging in legal research. All cases are being litigated in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. A few students each semester may have the opportunity to argue a motion before a federal district judge. Participants also meet for a 1 credit seminar to discuss, study, and learn how to perform the day-to-day tasks that civil immigration litigators at this Office perform. FULL YEAR COMMITMENT PREFERABLE
