Final Exams | Exam Schedule | Securexam | Exams on File

Securexam
Brooklyn Law School is again offering students the option to take exams using their own computers. All exams for the Fall 2008 semester are available via Securexam. Students choosing to take their exams using Securexam must bring their laptops, powercords and Ethernet cables to the exam room on the day of the exam or, if the exam is a take-home, must download the exam from the PlanetSSI website and take the exam from home. Registration with the Registrar's office is required to use Securexam. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008.

Please Note: Securexam student versions are available for Windows and Mac users. Review the Securexam system requirements (PDF).

How Securexam Works: In-house Exams
Securexam creates a secure test environment by locking down the computer's operating system, thereby allowing students to access only a modified version of Securexam's internal editor for performing basic editing tasks. In the exam room, students will receive the exam questions on paper and will prepare typed responses using Securexam Student. Upon completing their exam and exiting the program, Securexam will upload the exam file to a secure server and save an encrypted version of the document and associated exam statistics to the C: drive and returns the candidate's computer back to its original settings.

For more information please see:

Securexam Quick Guide for PC (PDF).

Securexam Quick Guide for Mac's (PDF).

How Securexam Works: Take-home Exams
Students who register to use Securexam for their take home exams will download a PDF version of the exam from the Planet SSI website: www.planetssi.com . They will write their exam answer on their own word processing software (not the Securexam software) and upload their completed answer to the Planet SSI website.

All Securexam users will be asked to sign an Affirmation of Non-Collusion that indicates that the student has deleted the electronic version of any take-home exam questions from their hard-drive. This will ensure that the exam questions are not duplicated, distributed, or released to any student who has not yet taken the exam, who is preparing to take the exam, or is taking the exam.

Registering to Use Securexam
Those wishing to use Securexam must first sign-up with the Registrar's Office using the online request form. Those who have signed up will receive a full set of instructions on how to download the software. Registration forms must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 17, 2008; no exceptions will be made.

Please refer any questions regarding Securexam and examination procedure to Chris Bester at chris.bester@brooklaw.edu or Margaret Rizzo at margaret.rizzo@brooklaw.edu.
