2009 Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition

April 2 to 4, 2009 -- Congratulations to Michigan State University College of Law, which defeated the University of California Hastings College of Law in the final round of the Twenty-Fourth Annual Dean Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition in the 36-team tournament hosted by Brooklyn Law School. The final round argument was held before the Honorable Duane Benton of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the Honorable Susan P. Graber of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Honorable Dennis Jacobs of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Other winners were, for Best Oralist, Final Round: Josh Deitz, UC Hastings; Best Brief: Widener Law School; Second Best Brief: Cornell University Law School; Third Best Brief:  Seton Hall University School of Law; and Best Oralist, Preliminaries: Michael Nicholas of William & Mary Law School.

The competition honors the late Jerome Prince, renowned evidence scholar, teacher, and author of Prince on Evidence, who served as Dean of Brooklyn Law School from 1953-1971.
