New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC)

The NYS DEC’s purpose is to bring together all state programs directed towards protecting and enhancing the environment in one agency. The NYS DEC deals with regulating and enforcing New York State environmental laws and regulations. This site gives the public access to the DEC Regulations and other valuable information regarding environmental issues.

Office of the New York State Attorney General (Environmental Protection Bureau)

The AG’s Environmental Protection Bureau litigates environmental cases.
Sierra Club (Atlantic Chapter)

Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)

The NRDC is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting wildlife and wild places, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all living things. This site contains a wealth of information about current environmental issues.
The Nature Conservancy

According to the Britannica Concise, the Nature Conservancy is a nonprofit organization dedicated to environmental conservation and the preservation of biodiversity. It operates the largest system of nature sanctuaries in the world. Government-administered programs identify the relative abundance of plant and animal species and the habitats they need to survive, and the Conservancy then acquires, through gifts, easements, exchanges, and other means, areas that are home to threatened species.
World Wide Fund (WWF - US)
