17th Annual BLSPI Auction
March 1, 2007
On March 1, 2007, Brooklyn Law Students for the Public Interest (BLSPI) raised close to $35,000 in their 17th Annual BLSPI Auction. The theme for this year's auction was Pirates!. Participants donned their best pirate attire and were led through the auction by a professional auctioneer.
The items for auction, donated by Brooklyn Law School faculty members, staff, students, alumni and local businesses, ran a wide gamut-from the usual offerings of tickets to sporting and cultural events to a reserved library study room for spring semester finals. Some of the items that garnered the most interest included a karaoke with BLS's "Girl Group" and dinner with Professors Cahill, Janger, and Serkin.
The proceeds from BLSPI's annual auction go towards funding summer fellowships for students to work in public interest organizations as well as other BLSPI initiatives such as symposia and joint events with other public-interest-minded groups.
Past BLSPI fellows have worked at such organizations as Amnesty International, the Brennan Center, the Legal Aid Society, and the Urban Justice Center.
